Carpet Flooring

How to choose a carpet that’s right for your home?

Not all carpets are created equal and not every carpet will serve the same purpose. That's why a good place to begin is by considering your lifestyle and preferences.

Start with questions like: Do I have an active home with kids or pets? Will there be a lot of foot traffic? How do I feel about maintenance? Remember to factor in your home’s interior design as well as budget. Also, don’t forget to compare fibres to see what works in your home.

Signature Floors is a member of the Carpet Institute of Australia. We work with global manufacturers to develop effects that enhance the feel and longevity of carpets under the toughest of conditions. Our product offerings are diverse. And, based on your requirements, you’ll be able to choose from fibres like nylon, pure wool, polyester, SDN and polypropylene across pile types.

Use our exhaustive guide to evaluate your options when choosing flooring for your home.

Carpet Features

Features Carpet Pile Types

Pure Wool

Natural wool is a luxurious material for your residential carpet. It is tactile, soft and resists dirt easily. The fabric is also a natural flame-retardant. With care, wool has the potential to last a lifetime. Thus, maximising the ROI on your flooring investment.

Nylon

Nysoft™ is found in all premium Signature carpets. This is an ultra-soft new-age nylon yarn. Some of nylon's greatest attributes are its easy cleaning and stain-resisting properties. This makes it particularly suited for busy families and pets.

SDN

Solution Dyed Nylon (SDN) is created by adding colour to the fibre while in liquid form. Typically, it has colour all the way through it. This lends SDN a new level of stain resistance and fade performance. A breakthrough material in carpet construction.

Polypropylene

Polypropylene fibre is not only durable and colourfast but also stain and moisture-resistant. What's more, it's easy to maintain. Choose this budget-friendly carpet for busy and active homes.

Polyester

Polyester carpets feel lush underfoot and are available in bright colour options. Beautiful and budget-friendly, it’s a superb all-round twist carpet that takes the knocks of a busy household while looking great. This fade-resistant carpet is usually built from recycled PET plastics.

Twist

Cut pile twist is popular carpet construction. In that cut fibres are twisted tightly for a more robust style. As a result, these carpets have a textured appearance compared to a plush pile carpet. This flooring product is ideal for heavy traffic areas.

Loop

As the name suggests, fibres are formed into little loops and stuck to the backing. This construction lends to carpeting durability and helps it hide dirt easily. Loops can be tall, short, tight or loosely constructed. Loop pile carpets offer a smoother surface.

Plush

Plush pile carpets are cut to a uniform height for a smooth and sleek finish. They are crafted using wool or synthetic fibres and have a silky, velvety appearance. These carpets can leave tracking marks from walking or vacuuming. Use them in low-traffic areas like bedrooms.

Woven

Unlike tufted carpets, the woven style involves interlocking the pile and backing yarns for added durability and a plush look and feel. Weaving is a traditional carpet construction method using looms with patterns woven into the carpet – also popularly known as Axminster.
