MARICOR MARICAR

Maricor and Maricar are multi-disciplinarian design partners and twin sisters, with a spectacular repertoire of work in bespoke hand-embroidered illustration, typography and stop motion animation. Preferring to be called “Maker of Things” the self-taught duo’s love for pattern, texture and colour is evident in all their creations, mosaicked in the world of publishing and advertising.

Working out of their eponymous studio in Sydney, they have a fervent following across the globe due to their impressive and unorthodox approach to combining the magic of needle and thread to create playful and vibrant embroidered wonders.

THE COLLECTION

 Inspired by finding charm in the everyday, the Odds and Ends collection explores the connection of fluid shapes, artistic lines and bursts of colours in a deliberate style continuum. With seven axminster designs to choose from, this traditional construction of 80% wools and 20% nylon, offers strength and durability ideal for commercial spaces.

Organic and spontaneous, unexpected textures found by a discarded painter’s cloth guided the embroidery via beautifully fragmented colour stains. Translated into a luxuriously crafted hand tufted rug, the rich colours are vibrantly showcased through the contrasting yarns of New Zealand wool and bamboo silk. A combination of cut and loop piles are positioned to mimic the delicate details found in an original Maricor Maricar piece of art.

Originally designed for the qualities of Axminster, the Monoterrazzo design is adapted and recreated transforming into another flooring option for those projects requiring alternatives, and giving the collection a complete product offering.
