'Signature Floorcoverings' commitment to sustainability'
PRODUCT STEWARDSHIP
Signature Floorcoverings undertakes to enter into a contractual agreement to take back it's products at the end of it's service life for recycling, reprocessing and or reuse.
This offer will be made to clients on a project-by-project basis and the cost of this program is to be negotiated by both parties. The program is subject to how the tiles will be positioned for pick-up and any in-situ issues that may arise.
Under the agreement, both Signature Floorcoverings and it's customers have the obligation to use it's best endeavours to ensure product stewardship takes place at the end of the product's life cycle. Signature Floorcoverings guarantees that this product will not end up as landfill.
Depending on the condition and location of the product, Signature Floorcoverings has a number of options to reuse, recycle and/or reprocess the Friendly Tile collection.
Reuse
Our Re-use strategy is limited to tiles in reasonable condition. These will be cleaned and resold.
Reprocessing
Our reprocessing strategy involves carpet tiles being cut to 10cm x 10cm pieces for use as a buffer between spring and mattress in the production of bedding.
Recycling
Our recycling strategy currently involves separating of backing and fibre in an overseas location, however in 2010 we expect to have a recycling option in Australia.
