As Australia's largest marine services provider to the offshore oil and gas industry, Mermaid Marine Australia Ltd (MMA) specialises in the provision of marine logistics and supply base services throughout all phases of the oil and gas development cycle. In their search to find larger premises for their expanding company, MMA discovered the old historic Endeavor Shed just up the coast from their original offices in Fremantle. The Endeavor Shed, specially constructed for the building of the HM Bark Endeavor Replica, would require considerable renovation to transform a simple corrugated shed to a fully functioning, multi level work environment.
Habitat 1, a full service design and construct company comprising of architects, interior designers and a builder brought a concept together and designed an evironmentally friendly workplace to go with the amazing view.

Project Brief
- The client wanted to create an open and transparent working environment for their different operational departments.
- The shed conversion needed to be completed, up and running within a 5 month time frame.
Project Challenges
- As the project had to be completed in a short time frame different industries had to work on top of each other in order to bring the project in on time.
Sustainability
- This was not a Green Star project, however Habitat wanted to create an environmentally friendly workplace.
Why Signature Floorconcepts
- Signature products were selected for this project because the different designs and colours worked well together to create a slightly different scheme on each of the 4 floors.
- The two products that were selected are part of the Friendly Tiles Range which are (Ecospecifier) Green Tag Certified.
Client Feedback
- The client is extremely happy with the end result as the design brief and time frame were both met.
- They constantly receive compliments regarding the fit out.
- The end result is a sophisticated and timeless space, with an excess of natural light and amazing views straight out over the Indian Ocean.
